Special Events
Join us on Wednesdays during Lent for a noonday worship service in the Chapel. After the service, you can enjoy a light lunch for $5 in the Great Hall. Please note that you only need to make a reservation if you plan to stay for lunch. The menu for the lunch will be soup and sandwiches, provided by Kim's Kitchen. Please make sure to reserve your spot for lunch by Tuesday at noon each week.
Honor the memory of your loved ones by donating to the Easter Lily Memorial fund in their name(s). Your contribution provides fresh flowers to be displayed in the Sanctuary and Highland Hall for Easter services, and the names of your loved ones will be printed in the Easter worship bulletin. Depending on IPC's ability to source the lilies, you may pick up your order AFTER the 11 am Easter service in the Sanctuary, or you can make a direct donation without the pick-up of any flowers.
To ensure the names of loved ones are included in the bulletin, please ensure your contribution is received by Sunday, March 22.
Join a Grace Group as we explore the "Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts, and Outlaws" by Adam Hamilton. Grace Groups offer IPC members and friends a way to connect while studying scriptures in a small group setting. Each small group is led by IPC members and meets at different times and locations, so you can find a group that works for you.
Join us Palm Sunday for our annual Easter Egg Hunt! We will begin after the 11 am service (around 12:15pm). Toddlers will hunt in the IPC Courtyard, and Early Childhood & Older Elementary will hunt in Rushton Park. Please bring your Easter baskets! Cookies and lemonade will be served, and prizes will be given for those who find the Golden Eggs. Please register!
All ages are also welcome to participate in our Children's Palm Processional at the beginning of the 11 am service on March 29. Children and at least one parent will line up in front of the Sanctuary by 10:50 am to receive their palms.
Calling all book lovers! Join Nicole on March 30 at 5:30 pm in Room 303 for Books & Becoming, a once-a-month book club for anyone curious about how reading shapes faith, identity, and the way we live together. We will read across theology, memoir, and fiction, making space for thoughtful conversation, attentive listening, and shared reflection. Our first book will be My Body Is Not a Prayer Request: Disability Justice in the Church by Amy Kenny.
Throughout Lent, we will display prayer requests in the church stairwell, which we are temporarily calling the "Prayerwell". This is a way for us to visually represent those who have touched our lives or who may need our prayers. To have someone's name displayed in the Prayerwell, please submit their first name only in the basket located at the front desk.
Bring your whole family for fellowship and fun at our drop-in Family Social, hosted by the Day School and open to all Day School and IPC families. Enjoy a
relaxed evening connecting with new and familiar faces while the kids play. No reservation needed; families will purchase their dinner and drinks on their own.
On Sunday, April 12, IPC will mark the 100th anniversary of our sanctuary. The congregation will gather for one combined worship service at 11 am, and Sunday School classes will meet at 10 am as usual.
Following the service, all are invited to a congregational lunch in the Great Hall, prepared by IPC’s own Kim Martin. It will be a joyful churchwide celebration as the congregation gives thanks for the past and looks ahead to the future. Lunch is $10, and RSVPs are required to ensure accurate seating arrangements and number of meals.
Please RSVP no later than Monday, April 6!
Volunteer with your family or a group to provide evening meals for the women and children staying at First Light. IPC will be providing evening meals April 19-25.
Join us on Monday, April 20 at 7 pm at The Grocery for Beer & Hymns! Beer & Hymns is exactly what it sounds like. We sing old-timey hymns (plus a few new ones) while enjoying good food and beverages.
Please join us for playtime and popsicles on our IPC Children's Playgrounds. Families will have time to play with one another and fellowship. There is no need to register, so just come on out. Friends are welcome!
World renowned organist Vincent Dubois and 48 members of the Alabama Symphony will present a free concert that will fill the Sanctuary with incredible music by composers Marcel Dupré and Franz Liszt. This free concert series has been established to present internationally acclaimed organ concert artists to perform music for organ and orchestra.
IPC's organ is given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of Joseph W. Schreiber, who served Independent Presbyterian Church with excellence and dedication for 34 years.
Join IPC’s Western Carolina Mission Trip, June 7 – 14, 2026 as we continue relief efforts following Hurricane Helene. This hands-on trip will focus on helping families rebuild and restore their homes and communities. To learn more, contact Rev. David Seamon.
We invite you to join us for a life-changing journey to Rwanda, where we'll stay and visit with Archbishop Mbanda, explore the inspiring work being done at East African Christian College, and witness firsthand how God is reviving and restoring a country after genocide. We hope you'll consider being part of this journey of faith. For more information, please contact Betsy Holloway or David Seamon at dseamon@ipc-usa.org.
