Independent Presbyterian Church has played a significant role in music and the arts in Birmingham. The November Organ Recital Series began in 1965 and is one of the longest running organ series in the nation. Both the organ recital and annual Religious Arts Festivals bring world-class artists to the area. Since the first Christmas Concert in 1964, the IPC Choir has presented more than 175 concerts and special services locally and around the world.
All of these free, public events are funded through endowments and the yearly operating budget of the church. Please join us and experience God in new ways through the arts.

Join IPC for its first concert of the November Organ Recital series. Daniel Roth has been widely acclaimed as one of the leading French organ virtuosos, and has held several prestigious positions as an artist and teacher. Renowned for his brilliant interpretations of organ literature and for his thrilling improvisations which are regularly included in his concert programs, Daniel Roth has concertized extensively throughout Europe, Great Britain, The United States, Scandinavia, Japan and Korea. A prolific composer as well as performer, Mr. Roth has written works for organ solo, flute and organ, choir and organ, orchestra, and for piano, organ and orchestra.
Join IPC for the November Organ Recital series. Chase Loomer is an award-winning organist who has given solo recitals throughout North America. In 2025, he was part of The Diapason magazine’s class of “20 Under 30,” and also featured as a “NextGen” artist in the June 2022 edition of The American Organist magazine. Currently, Chase is Organist and Associate Choirmaster at the Cathedral of St. Philip (Episcopal) in Atlanta, GA, where he shares service playing duties for over 250 services per year and oversees the RSCM-based chorister program.
Join IPC for the November Organ Recital series. Mark Dwyer has held the position of Organist and Choirmaster of The Church of the Advent, Boston since 2007. He has held similar positions at St. Paul's Church, K Street in Washington, DC and The Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, New York. Dr. Dwyer is active as an organ recitalist, having presented programs throughout the United States and in England. His work as conductor, accompanist and recitalist may be heard on the Raven, JAV, Arsis, and AFKA recording labels. He conducts The Advent Choir, an all-professional ensemble of 18 singers which presents over 100 anthems and motets in addition to fifty choral settings of the mass each year for the liturgies of The Church of the Advent.
Join IPC for the November Organ Recital series. Emma Whitten is an accomplished organist specializing in early Baroque and contemporary repertoire. She regularly performs across the United States and internationally, captivating audiences and introducing the organ to new listeners. Her programs are engaging and diverse, drawing from an extensive repertoire spanning eight centuries of organ music. Performance venues and festivals include the Los Angeles Presidents’ Day Organ Festival, St. Paul’s Cathedral (San Diego, CA), Catalina Organ Festival (Tucson, AZ), Saints Simon & Jude Cathedral (Phoenix, AZ), Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Saint Mary’s Basilica (Phoenix, AZ), and University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Internationally, Emma has performed on historic organs in Germany, Spain, Colombia, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
