Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular Activities

  • We engage with the world around us by inviting community artists and first responders into the classroom to share their creative talents and valuable safety information. In years' past, these have included visits from police and firefighters, clay artists, live music performers, and puppeteers.

Before and After School Extracurricular Activities

We have several outside extracurricular activities children can participate in before and after school for a small fee. Extracurricular activities do not meet when school is not in session.

  • Before School Extracurricular Activities: 8 - 9 am
  • After School Extracurricular Activities: 1 - 2 pm

Registration forms with fees are due before the 1st class of each program. No refunds will be given after the first week of classes. Separate checks must be made payable to these programs.

  • School Days | 8 - 9 am and 1 - 2 pm

Play Pals offers before and/or after-school enrichment activities for all children and operates every day of the week. Under the guidance of Chrystal Kracke, children can sign up for the entire session or attend as 'drop-ins' depending on availability. The program provides a fun environment where children can enjoy free play. Follow the link for additional information and to register your child.

  • Mondays | 1 - 2 pm

Little Artists is offered on Mondays as an extracurricular activity with Day School Teacher Barbara Day for 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s. The Curriculum is designed to encourage creativity and expand on drawing and painting techniques appropriate for young children. We will read favorite books and create art of our favorite characters or scenery. The children will learn to use a variety of mediums- such as oil pastels, watercolor, and textures. This class is for any child who desires to learn and explore.

  • Tuesday Mornings | 8 - 9 am

Little Yogis is offered on Tuesday mornings as an extracurricular activity with yoga instructor Mystie Arnold for children in the 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s classes. The curriculum is designed to be a fun and playful way for young children to stretch, move, and strengthen their bodies. A growing body of research suggests yoga can improve focus, memory, self-regulation, body awareness, gross and fine motor skills, and self-esteem in young children. Mystie will also incorporate storytelling and imaginative activities into their time together. Class space is limited to 10 children.

  • Tuesday Afternoons | 1 - 2 pm

Music and Creative Movement will be offered on Tuesday afternoons from 1-2 pm. The class is for children ages 3 and up. It is designed to explore different genres of music through movement, dance, and musical instruments. Each class will begin with a warm up to refresh our minds and bodies for music exploration.

  • Wednesday Afternoons | 1 - 2 pm

Soccer Shots is offered as an extracurricular activity for children enrolled in Three-Year-Olds, Four-Year-Olds, and Five-Year-Olds. It is led by Jason Kendall, John Stagni, and Jacob Chambliss who believe that athletic involvement encourages self-discipline, social interaction, and better fitness habits. They also find great importance in providing positive role models and character development for children. Having played or been involved with sports since a young age, they found the Soccer Shots Organization to be a great way to get children involved with a sport that they not only love but believe to be the best sport for fitness development for our youth.

  • Thursday Afternoons | 1 - 2 pm

Kid Tigerz is Birmingham’s most dynamic martial arts program for kids ages 3-kindergarten. Our program is designed to help kids learn to listen, respect people around them, and expand their focus. Our age-appropriate drills, skills, and games are uniquely geared for physical, mental, and character development. Best of all it is engaging and FUN! We also include monthly take-home character packets with activities and a character word lesson inside.
