The breath of God has infused the human mind and inspired artists through the ages. We experience God though all our senses.
Independent Presbyterian Church has played a significant role in music and the arts in Birmingham. The November Organ Recital Series began in 1965 and is one of the longest running organ series in the nation. Both the organ recital and annual Religious Arts Festivals bring world-class artists to the area. Since the first Christmas Concert in 1964, the IPC Choir has presented more than 175 concerts and special services locally and around the world.
All of these free, public events are funded through endowments and the yearly operating budget of the church. Please join us and experience God in new ways through the arts.

We will celebrate "Christ the King" with our annual hymn festival on Sunday, November 24! This special festival of scripture and song marks the last Sunday of the Christian Year and will take place in the sanctuary with services at 8:45 and 11:00 am. This year, we will present some new settings of well-known hymns featuring a brass quintet, timpani, flute, classical guitar, and choir. Children will participate in the 11:00 am service in the Sanctuary to celebrate the end of Kids Rock for the fall. This will be a perfect time to warm up your vocal cords and sing the beautiful hymns of our church together!
Join IPC for the November Organ Recital series. The exceedingly stellar musicality and technical prowess exhibited by Bryan Anderson compelled the jury of the Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition to name him their First Prize Winner in 2023. He took prizes at the 2021 Canadian International Organ Competition, the 2019 Longwood Gardens competition, and the 2009 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition.
Indian River fruit will be sold by the choir again this year. This is an important fundraiser for the IPC Choir, and we encourage all members to participate! All proceeds will go toward future IPC Choir trips. You also have the opportunity to donate fruit directly to IPC Community Ministries for distribution to the Blessing Boxes and/or food insecurity programs of greatest need. Online order form coming soon!
Music4Romania cordially invites you to IPC for an eclectic evening of music and poetry celebrating the transcendental power that music, love, and faith have on our lives; uplifting us and uniting us.
