Independent Presbyterian Church has played a significant role in music and the arts in Birmingham. The November Organ Recital Series began in 1965 and is one of the longest running organ series in the nation. Both the organ recital and annual Religious Arts Festivals bring world-class artists to the area. Since the first Christmas Concert in 1964, the IPC Choir has presented more than 175 concerts and special services locally and around the world.
All of these free, public events are funded through endowments and the yearly operating budget of the church. Please join us and experience God in new ways through the arts.

Upcoming Music Events
At the 11 am worship service, IPC celebrates the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans. There will be a table to receive tartan items that represent families in our congregation, and all are invited to bring a tartan item (blanket, scarf, shawl, patch, etc.) to place on the table before the service for a blessing. Those who come dressed in Scottish attire may also participate in a procession; please be ready in the Narthex before the service.
“Be Joyful in the Lord: A Celebration of Smiles, Kindness, and Community” will feature Piffaro: the Renaissance Band, a multi-media concert about Smiles, lectures on humor and comedy in Art and application to daily life, and an evening of Improv at the Festival Banquet.
