A Renewed Commitment to be with Family

My friends,

This is not the way I want to reach each one of you, but I am not sure how else to connect during a pandemic. I want to share with you many months of discernment about my ministry at IPC. With much prayer and emotion, I will leave my position as Director of Youth Ministries in mid-August.

So much has changed this Spring. A pandemic separated us right in the middle of a wonderful Christian Education season, the need for honest dialogue about race spread quickly across the country, and I was married to my lovely partner, Christina. Each of these changes revealed to Christina and I how distant we were from our families in Georgia. Slowly, we realized that we needed to be with them, in person, to make meaning out of these complex and challenging times. My decision to leave IPC is largely a renewed commitment to be with my family.

I am deeply grateful for my time on the IPC team. I’ve loved getting to know the spirit of the youth, as well as the many memories of retreats, car rides, and honest Sunday school classes. You all are amazing friends to read the Bible with, and I will never forget that.

And, I want to continue to work closely with you over the next month! David Seamon and I will lead an effort to coordinate our Fall youth programming and want everyone with a love for the youth at IPC to join us.

Peace,
Isaac
