Being a Good Neighbor

Have you noticed how we are always welcoming our friends, family and neighbors to IPC at worship, in class and through our ministries? This Sunday, we will welcome our fourth graders and present them with their Bibles during the 11 am worship. We will also recognize our choirs who minister to this congregation through the joy of song every single Sunday.

Extending a friendly welcome to our neighbors also means serving our community and helping our neighbors in need. But what does it mean to you personally? Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin will talk to us about how we can be good neighbors this Wednesday at 6:15 pm in Highland Hall as part of our “Love Thy Neighborhood” speaker series. Please make plans to join us for dinner in the Great Hall beginning at 5:15 pm then come hear Mayor Woodfin in person!

Finally, please keep Courtney Bowen, a recent grad of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, in your prayers. You may remember that she was under the care of this congregation and presbytery as a candidate for ministry. She recently received a call to The Church of the Covenant in Elizabeth, IN as a supply pastor and will be ordained this weekend. It’s an exciting new chapter for Courtney and her family, not to mention the congregation of that church!

See you Sunday,

Bill
