When we encounter darkness, we light it up - “with goodness and kindness and holiness.” Those words are part of a call from our Birmingham Jewish Community to perform collectively 1,100 good deeds or Mitzvahs in memory of the 11 lives lost in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. We are called as Presbyterians to carry the light of Christ into the world. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ by Joining God in the World, Welcoming Our Neighbors. Especially as we approach this Sunday when the IPC Choir sings the names of IPC members who have died in the last year during the Litany of the Saints, consider honoring those lives by doing a good deed.
We invite everyone to join the Youth Grant Team Monday at 6 pm in Room 306. This year’s team is the largest one yet. These 17 high school juniors and seniors have spent the last few months reviewing IPC Foundation grants and going on site visits. Learn more about their work and which agencies will receive funding from them on Monday
Finally, remember to turn your clocks back an hour before going to bed Saturday night. But if you happen to forget and arrive early for worship, we’ll have coffee waiting for you.
See you Sunday,
