At Independent Presbyterian Church, we believe God calls us to be a Christian community, actively engaged in transforming lives through our living faith in Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. You are invited to worship here and to discover ways to grow your faith, serve in ministry to others, and build relationships through fellowship. All are welcome.
After a few weeks virtually on board the good ship IPC, I am greatly impressed with the divergent number of gifts so many members have to offer. From music, administration, finance, generosity of heart, mind and spirit, graciousness in giving, thoughtfulness and worship leadership, (to name a few), this church has been greatly blessed. It is a privilege to serve God and you in this role I’ve been given as your Interim Pastor.
I am writing to announce my intention to retire from IPC on October 31, 2020. I can hardly believe that it has been 16 years since I answered God’s call and accepted your invitation to join the staff. It has been both a joy and a privilege to serve as your associate pastor—particularly as the director of pastoral care and counseling.
The usual moniker for churches is that they move at glacial speed. This is sometimes a good thing as too much change too soon only breeds chaos. However, there are times when "The Church" needs to be proactive, and now is one. I write this in my first week of being gainfully employed as your Interim (transitional minister), and I’ve barely been able to catch my breath. There seems to be a whirling dervish of activity in every place in spite of the COVID pause upon us. It is a joy to find so many people wanting and willing to do something "Christ like” to serve others and the church.
