2025 was an exciting year at IPC as you will see in our 2025 Annual Report. From mission to worship to discipleship to stewardship, our church was humming on all cylinders.
Our stewardship campaign was incredibly successful. Not only did we increase the number of pledges for the first time in many years, but we exceeded our pledge goal and finished the year in strong financial shape. Thank you all! I’m amazed at what this church can do when it sets its mind to it. In the spring, we launched the IPC Now & Forever Legacy Giving Campaign to raise money for our endowments to ensure the financial health and stability of our church for generations to come. We are grateful for all who have already committed to this important goal and continue to welcome all those who want to be a part of what God is up to here at IPC.
In 2025, we continued this congregation’s commitment to the mission of Jesus Christ around the world. Not only did we send missionaries back to Chiapas, Mexico, but we also took a group to western North Carolina to work on hurricane relief. We were some of the first people into the area to help with the rebuilding efforts, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. We also completed and dedicated new playgrounds for our children, one of which was named after our past beloved Children’s Director, the late Cindy Coulter.
2025 was our first year with the new smaller Session, which had 42 adults for many years but is now at 24. Not only has this allowed our meetings to be more intimate and effective, it has also made it possible for the elders to get to know one another better.
It was a year of loss for our congregation as we said farewell to a significant number of members who graduated to the Church Triumphant. At the same time, we continued to attract visitors and new members of all ages. Rebecca and I have greatly enjoyed having each new member class for dinner at our house.
On the staff front, we saw the retirements of Cindy Shaw, after 18 years as our assistant engagement and assimilation coordinator, and Beth Grauel, after 33 years as our church accountant. We also brought in some homegrown talent in Marion Dukes to be our new Director of the Children’s Fresh Air Farm, a role she has jumped into with energy, creativity, and passion. The future of the Farm looks very bright.
