IPC is proud to be a certified Earth Care Congregation, dedicated to positively influencing our environment. Our Earth Care Team works tirelessly to care for God’s earth in worship, education, and outreach, and one initiative focuses on recycling #5 plastics.
Anyone can drop off clean and rinsed #5 plastics at the large white Super Sack located in the small wooden hut at the top of the back parking lot. When each Super Sack is full, it gets taken to Community on the Rise, where women are employed to create beautiful household items and jewelry.
The Super Sack is where we now need additional help! Our collection of #5 plastics has significantly increased, and we are looking for volunteers to transport these materials to Community on the Rise.
What are #5 Plastics?
#5 plastics, typically made from polypropylene, are commonly found in items like yogurt containers, straws, and some food containers. While they are often overlooked, recycling #5 plastics is essential for reducing waste and conserving resources. IPC’s Earth Care Team is proud to facilitate this recycling process, but we can't do it alone.
New Volunteer Opportunity
We are seeking volunteers who have access to large SUVs or trucks to help transport our bulky super sacks of #5 plastics to Community on the Rise. These drop-offs happen every Monday from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, and we recommend bringing along one other person to assist with loading the sacks at IPC.

Your involvement not only supports an eco-friendly initiative but also promotes community outreach by ensuring these materials are recycled into beautiful, sustainable goods and empowering those who are experiencing homelessness in our community.
Thank you for considering helping IPC with this important cause. Together, we can make a significant difference in our community!
