The Gift of Joy

Turn on your radio. Watch TV. Or simply drive around and see the Christmas decorations. What you will see and hear is joy. Fill your hearts with the gift of joy as we continue to make preparations for the coming of the Christ-child.

This Sunday, our fifth graders have a special joy-filled gift for us—the annual Christmas Pageant. The pageant begins at 10 am in Highland Hall and ends with an early birthday party for Jesus. Our fifth graders and volunteers have worked extremely hard on re-imagining this pageant, which will feature new costumes made by IPC member Deby Wright and her mother. Deby also re-wrote the play. Bring your family to the pageant and stay for cake!

We also spread the message of joy and hope with the opening of the Holiday House Tour doors this weekend. Tickets are still available online and at the church. They will also be on-sale in the church and homes this weekend. You will be able to tour three beautifully decorated houses, one condo and our church on Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm and Sunday from 1- 5 pm. We’ll also host a tea in the Great Hall. New this year is shuttle service from IPC to the three houses. You must park your car at IPC and ride to the Schleusner, Holman and Delaney homes. Only the Draper/Thompson condo will be accessible by car. All proceeds from the tour benefit IPC ministries, so buy tickets to the tour, donate homemade Christmas cookies for the tea, make a contribution to the purchase of tea sandwiches or volunteer your time. You can learn more about those opportunities further down in the eUpdate. Holiday House Chair, Penney Hartline, and an incredible team of decorators, house chairs, cookie chairs, parking volunteers, bakers and house volunteers are working hard to make this 69th annual tour a success. Please help support them.

Also, I get to do something I’ve always wanted to do with Holiday House—I get to be a parker and wear one of those special vests! So watch for me on the tour Sunday afternoon taking orders from Rusty Boyd.

Finally, a reminder—we will not host a Second Sunday Lunch or dinner because of Holiday House. But please do go ahead and save the second Sunday in January for food and fellowship here at IPC following 11 am and 5 pm worship services.

See you Sunday,

Bill
