A Beautiful View

“Come to the Table” is theme of our stewardship campaign this fall. And that’s exactly what we did at our annual Town Hall Meeting last night that started with a wonderful spread of food in Great Hall prepared by Kim and her staff. Then we all moved to Highland Hall to see a great video put together by Honora Gathings and Jim Walker.

We came to the table in fellowship to eat, to catch up and to learn about new ministries at IPC. We learned that a new strategic plan for the Children’s Fresh Air Farm will ensure that our oldest outreach ministry continues to thrive and grow by adding year-round programming. The IPC Deacons are continuing to further their reach by inviting panelists to lead conversations about mental health, aging and other often hard to discuss topics at the Deacon Roundtables, which we will rename IPC Roundtables. Our mild to moderate memory care program, Recess, continues to welcome new participants and volunteers. All in all, it was a great evening! The term "Radical Hospitality" was used by Executive Associate, Lucy Tuner, to reemphasize how important it is to welcome people of all types and backgrounds to our IPC Table.

With that in mind, every Sunday, members of the Welcome Team help greet visitors. Some of these visitors will be received as new members in the chapel this Sunday at 10 am. As a congregation, we will have the opportunity to recognize all of them during our 11 am worship. We will also be recognizing our Sunday School teachers who are instrumental in our faith formation during both early worship services. Join us!

If you are looking for another way to continue exploring your faith, you may want to pick up a copy of Dr. Morgan Roberts’ new book. The former interim IPC pastor just published A Beautiful View: A Friendlier Christianity as a Way of Life. The book is a series of 12 meditations on key questions about the Christian faith with each chapter built around a Bible study. There will be opportunities soon to buy the book, and to come to the church and engage in a SKYPE conversation with Morgan in one of our classrooms. Click HERE for information about how to purchase a copy.

Finally, a happy 100th birthday to longtime IPC member Robbie Sevier! We are glad you were born!

See you Sunday,

Bill
