Ministering to Our Members

New IPC support groups offer more emotional, spiritual support

Meet Dr. Jo Self, the facilitator of our Grief Support Group! Dr. Self is a licensed professional counselor who holds a Ph.D. in counseling. Over the past 19 years, she has worked with individuals and groups at Bradford Health Services, Rape Response, Alabama Board of Nursing and in private practice. Dr. Self is a member of IPC and has a passion for supporting members who are on a journey of grief.

On the first and third Tuesdays at noon in room G39, Dr. Self works with IPC members who are experiencing grief. The group is open to all and provides a confidential, supportive environment for anyone who wants to know they are not alone in their grief.

Meet Louis Josof, the facilitator of our Cancer Support Group! Mr. Josof is an oncology counselor at St. Vincent’s Bruno Cancer Center. He survived two bouts of cancer himself, the first of which began when he was only 18-years-old. A strong Christian himself, Josof has been providing cancer counseling for 40 years and leading support groups across town.

On the first Mondays at noon in room G39, Mr. Josof works with IPC members who are battling cancer, have survived cancer or have a loved one suffering from cancer. The group is open to all and provides a casual, supportive environment for anyone struggling with the pain cancer causes.
Please feel free to join either group. Contact the Rev. Brian Lays (blays@ipc-usa.org) for more information.
