March Madness

March Madness is upon us. Basketball fans still must wait one week for Selection Sunday to find out which 68 teams have made the playoffs. But the pace is already picking up on God’s court here at IPC. Registration is now open online for IPC members to sign children and grandchildren up for Vacation Bible Study and Bibletimes Marketplace. The process of identifying and nominating church officers is coming to a close. Our children are also in the final days of preparing for the spring musical, “Oh, Jonah,” which will be presented next Sunday, March 11. Preparations are also well underway for Holy Week and our annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Wait…. There’s even more news to share. On Monday, we welcomed Pat Flowers to our staff. Pat is the new director of the mild dementia care program called Recess. She’s the former director of development for the Episcopal Place. Her husband is a theatre professor at Birmingham Southern College. She also has a theatre background and hopes to incorporate that into the program. Here’s what makes the program particularly important to Pat- her father is living with mild dementia. She understands the challenges faced by him and her mother who cares for him. Her own life has given her insight into what the program needs to deliver to all participants and their caregivers. She is currently searching for a program assistant to help launch this program later this spring. We cannot wait to see how this ministry will change lives. Please take a moment and welcome Pat.

Finally, please remember the deadline to submit church officer nominations is this Monday, March 5. The Representative Nominating Committee needs your help identifying qualified people who you believe have the spiritual gifts to serve as church leaders. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to nominate someone. The form is available online and takes just a few minutes to fill out.

See you Sunday!

P.S. Remember to get your tickets for Maggie’s Perfect Match if you haven’t already done so! March 8-11. Virginia Samford Theatre:
