It's Your Turn to Return to School

A few weeks ago, many of you sent your children back to school for another year of learning. Now, it’s your turn. Fall Sunday school classes are already underway, and weekday programming kicks off on Wednesday, September 7 with our first Wednesday night dinner!

Wednesday nights will be a little different at IPC this fall. The main change to note is a slightly later start to dinner. It will now be served from 5:15- 6:15 pm. The Westminster Choir for 7th- 12th Graders is now also meeting at a new time from 5- 5:45 pm. This will give our youth the ability to participate in the choir and Youth Bible Study on Wednesday nights.

We’ll still be offering classes exploring our Presbyterian faith, as well as poetry and Strengths in Service classes. But we’re also bringing back the Highland Avenue Forum with a focus on our community and speakers who are out in Birmingham actively making a difference. We’re calling it “Love Thy Neighborhood.” In addition, our Grief Support Group is moving to Wednesday nights. I’ll also be leading my Greek scholars through translations of the I John passages that I’m preaching from on Sundays.

I certainly don’t want to overlook weekday classes. They get underway that same week with the return of favorites, like Circle V, Bible Study with Lucy Turner, Yoga, Tapestries, Bible Study with Margaret Northen, Women at the Well, Bible Study with Susan Clayton, Bible Study on Sermon Texts and Bill Shanks’ Friday Morning Bible Study. There’s so much to choose from this fall at IPC.

Finally, please take time to upload a picture and update your contact information in our membership directory. I love being able to call to wish each one of you a happy birthday. But this information is also necessary to enable us to reach out to you and minister to you. Please take a few minutes to log into the directory at http://ipc-usa.org/connect/membership-directory.html. If you need help, you can contact Marsha Harbin at (205) 933-3715 or mharbin@ipc-usa.org.

All the Best,
Bill
